How to fix an ads.txt alert in Google AdSense account

This message is self explanatory. It means that we have not added an ads.txt file to one or more of our websites. Google strongly recommend that we use an ads.txt file.

What is ads.txt?

An ads.txt file is like a special text document that got approval from IAB. Its job is to stop sneaky people from selling ads without permission. This helps publishers stay safe from ad fraud, which is like cheating with ads. Plus, having ads.txt can make the money you get from ads go up. Google's ad platforms, such as Google Adsense, Doubleclick, and Ad Exchange, like this idea and support it to keep things fair and square.

How does it work?

Publishers drop a text file on their web servers that lists all of the companies that are authorized to sell the publishers’ inventory. This allows buyers to check the validity of the inventory they purchase.

  1. Sign in to your AdSense account.
  2. In the alert on your homepage, click Fix now.
  3. Click the Down arrow to open the “Create an ads.txt file for…” message.
  4. Click Download. Your ads.txt file is automatically downloaded.
  5. Upload the file to the root level domain of your site (for example, https://example.com/ads.txt).
